Beginners Soundtrack - 11. Beginner’s Theme Suite

Adore this song from the soundtrack of Beginners. It sounds vaguely similar to the song from Amelie too. This instrumental piano piece so poignant with the repeated pounding of those few chords at the beginning and the melody behind is just so sad and beautiful. It just simply tugs at your heartstrings. This song goes extremely well with the movie too. And the movie is a must-watch. I think this was one of the best movies I watched last year and definitely my favourite. One of those movies that made you experience the subtleties of life on the darker side with a dash of humour. Those that make you have tears silently rolling down your cheeks and have yourself grinning at the next moment because the joy that was depicted was so simple and pure. The ending was rather uplifting too as two broken people finally found each other to make themselves whole, indirectly made possible through the passion the protagonist’s late father had for his later life when he finally came out of the closet. The film’s subject matter might seem rather dysfunctional at first. However, on closer look, you’ll find many scenes striking a chord with you because that’s just basically life in essence with all its beauty and darkness and this film just helps to amplify that very essence.
